From Accountant to Wizard: Job Loss Leads to New Career for Madison Dryer Vent Wizard Franchisee
Sometimes misfortune has a way of working out for the better. Perfect example: Dean Culver. After working as an accountant for 20 years, he lost his job in 2013. While looking for work, he started investigating franchise opportunities. The one that stood out was Dryer Vent Wizard.
Interviewed recently by GMToday (Greater Milwaukee Today), Culver explained that the Dryer Vent Wizard franchise appealed to him not only because it wasn’t another office job, but because it offered the opportunity to interact with customers while doing something genuinely useful. As Culver points out, lint-clogged dryer vents are a serious fire hazard too many people aren’t even aware of. In fact, there are over 15,000 dryer fires every year, causing hundreds of millions of dollars in property damage. Worse yet are the injuries and deaths caused by these fires.
In the years since starting his Dryer Vent Wizard franchise, Culver has seen tremendous growth in the business. In fact, he recently expanded to include Madison in his service area. Dean’s son Dayton will be the lead technician for the Madison territory, with plans for Dayton to eventually take over the business when Dean retires.
